Information Technology Knowledge & Skills

I feel confident that I have a basic knowledge of word processing. I am taking a class on PowerPoint this semester to increase my knowledge in this area. I have some training from the Introduction to Microcomputers course that included Access (databases) and Excel (spreadsheets). I am taking spreadsheets next semester to increase my understanding. My internet score is relatively low. The phrasing may also be affecting my comprehension of the questions. I think I can actually do some of the activities but I was unclear as to what exactly it was asking me. The last competency is extremely low! I admit to having almost no knowledge of web development.

My initial reaction to the scores was slight depression! Some of the low scores are due to lack of familiarity with the vocabulary terms and a lacking in confidence in my ability to explain to another person the definition.

A Little Bit About Me

(My Wordle) A Few of My Favorite Things

Hello! My name is Chris and I am 43 years old. I am married and have three children. Two of my children are in their twenties and my youngest is three. I have a wonderful grandson and he is two and half. I was born in Indiana and have lived in or near Osgood, IN for most of my life.
I currently am taking classes through Ivy Tech to earn a LTA degree. I will graduate in the spring and I am hoping to obtain a position in a library in Children Services. I like working with children and have had various volunteer positions, such as Girl Scout Leader, Cub Scout Leader (Bears and Webelos), Sunday School teacher, and various other volunteer activities involving my children and their school.
Yesterday I started a work/study position in the library at my local Ivy Tech campus. I am a little nervous but I am confident I will gain valuable knowledge and experience.
I am writing this blog for my LIB 105 class, Library Technology. I am sure I will be challenged to go beyond my comfort zone and develop a better understanding of the technologies and tools that will help me in my future career goals.
